Two individuals have been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon following a shooting incident on IH-37 Sunday night, June 15, where a caller reported being shot in the arm by occupants of a passing vehicle.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday, a call was received regarding one vehicle shooting at another on IH-37. The victim reported being struck in the arm by one of the rounds fired.
Deputies Hernandez and Mejia, along with Sgt. Quintero, were quickly dispatched to the area to search for the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was spotted at the Bexar/Atascosa County line on IH-37 (mile marker 118), and Deputy Hernandez initiated a traffic stop.
During the stop, law enforcement located a weapon in the suspect vehicle that matched the description provided by the victim. Furthermore, the ammunition in the gun matched a fired 9mm round found in the door of the victim's vehicle. The number of rounds missing from the suspect's loaded magazine also corresponded to the number of rounds fired at the victim.
The two occupants of the suspect vehicle, Jamie Rincon and Tyler Renner, both of Elmendorf, Texas, were taken into custody. They have been booked into the Atascosa County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Both remain in custody, each held on a $100,000 bond.
