Two people were killed Friday afternoon in a crash along Southeast Loop 410 near Mourson Boulevard, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 1:56 p.m. on May 23, as a man and a woman in her 50s were traveling eastbound and began slowing for upcoming lane reductions due to road construction. Their vehicle was then struck from behind by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.
The impact caused their car to spin out of control into a grassy area, where it struck a guardrail before rebounding back onto the highway. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Their names have not yet been released.
The 22-year-old driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries. His vehicle rolled onto its side during the crash and slid across multiple main lanes before coming to a stop. He was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution.
No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
