In the early morning of July 8th, 2023, the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) responded to a distressing shooting incident at the 5000 block of MiddleField Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of a male victim, who had succumbed to an apparent gunshot wound.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that Joseph Fernandez, a 26-year-old resident of San Antonio, arrived at the location and engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. Unfortunately, the situation took a devastating turn when Fernandez brandished a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing the scene.
SAPD Homicide detectives swiftly took charge of the case, initiating an intensive investigation to identify and locate Joseph Fernandez. Through meticulous evidence gathering and witness statements, detectives were able to successfully ascertain Fernandez's identity. Shortly after the incident occurred, law enforcement authorities apprehended Joseph Fernandez, who is now in custody.
Joseph Fernandez has been arrested and booked on charges of Murder.
