The driver of the Nissan Rogue involved in the heartbreaking accident that resulted in the death of a preschooler, has been charged with manslaughter. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Doan Khanh Thuc Mai, now faces legal repercussions for her alleged role in the incident.
According to authorities, the preliminary investigation indicates that Mai was operating her 2012 Nissan Rogue on the southbound lanes of the highway when she suddenly applied the brakes. This abrupt maneuver initiated a chain of events that led to the collision.
The Nissan Rogue, after being rear-ended by a Hyundai Santa Fe, was redirected to another lane, where it was subsequently struck on its passenger side by a Dodge Ram. Tragically, the force of the impact caused a 5-year-old child, who was seated in the back of the Nissan, to be ejected from the vehicle. Despite immediate medical attention, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.
The decision to charge Doan Khanh Thuc Mai with manslaughter signifies the gravity of the situation. Manslaughter charges typically involve unintentional but reckless actions that result in the loss of life.
