Hondo Police Seek Assistance from Community in Vehicle Theft and Burglary Investigation

The Hondo Police Department (HPD) is requesting the community's support in an ongoing investigation involving multiple vehicle thefts and burglaries that occurred in the Kollman Oaks area. HPD received a call on June 30, 2023, reporting a stolen vehicle from the 1500 block of 28th Street. However, thanks to the efforts of the San Antonio Police, the stolen vehicle was later recovered, and the owner was promptly notified.

Shortly after the initial incident, HPD received another distress call regarding a stolen vehicle and two cases of vehicle burglary in the Kollman Oaks neighborhood. In an effort to identify the culprits, the police meticulously reviewed camera footage and discovered three vehicles traversing through the Kollman Oaks area. The footage revealed an unidentified male suspect attempting to gain access to several vehicles in the neighborhood.

According to the gathered evidence, the suspect vehicles are believed to be a white-colored, four-door hatchback, and two dark-colored, four-door cars. At approximately 03:30 hours on June 30, 2023, the vehicles were captured on video surveillance cameras near Avenue M and 14th Street.

In their pursuit of justice, HPD has reached out to both the Castroville Police Department (CPD) and the Medina County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), sharing crucial information related to the investigation. The collaboration among these law enforcement agencies has led investigators to suspect that the individuals involved in the crimes may be from the San Antonio area.

Hondo's Chief of Police, Justin Soza, is now urging the local community to assist in locating additional video footage that may have captured the suspect vehicles or individuals. Every piece of information, no matter how small, can aid in bringing the perpetrators to justice and preventing further crimes. Chief Soza has emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious activities to HPD by calling 830-426-5353. In case of an emergency or an ongoing crime, residents are advised to contact 911 immediately.
