A heated argument between a father and son took a violent turn early Saturday morning, resulting in a man being injured with a machete. Matthew Randall Sanchez Levario Jr. has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
The incident occurred in the 10300 block of Lorene, and SAPD swiftly responded to the scene after receiving a distress call around 4 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered a 55-year-old man with a deep cut to his left ankle. The victim informed authorities that he had been engaged in a dispute with his son when the situation escalated, leading his son to grab a machete and attack him.
Identified as Matthew Randall Sanchez Levario Jr., a 36-year-old man, he had remained inside the residence following the assault. SAPD officers skillfully apprehended Levario without any further incident.
Levario has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently in police custody. He was booked into the local detention center and is being held on a $60,000 bond.
The injured father was promptly provided with medical attention at the scene by emergency medical services and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The severity of his injuries and his current condition have not been disclosed by authorities.
