In a recent study conducted by Healthgrades, a leading resource in healthcare evaluations, Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak has emerged as one of the top 5% in the nation for Patient Safety. Healthgrades assesses hospital performance annually at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide, evaluating 32 common inpatient procedures and conditions using Medicare data, alongside all-payer data from 16 states for specific procedures like bariatrics and appendectomy.

Dr. Brad Bowman, MD, the chief medical officer at Healthgrades, emphasized the increasing awareness among consumers regarding hospital quality differences. One key factor contributing to Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak's achievement is its emphasis on multidisciplinary partnerships. Through daily discussions across departments, the hospital addresses errors, infections, and complications, leading to process improvements and enhanced patient experiences. Notably, the hospital witnessed an 80% reduction in Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections and a 57% reduction in Central Line Blood Stream Infections from 2021 to 2023, showcasing the effectiveness of these collaborative efforts.

Dr. Judy Tan Shumway, the chief medical officer at Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak, expressed pride in the hospital's commitment to excellence in patient safety.
