Charges against an 11-year-old boy were dropped on Wednesday, five months after he was arrested for allegedly threatening a school principal.
Timothy Murray, a former student at Palm Grove Elementary School in Brownsville and an honor student, was handcuffed and removed from the school on September 8, 2023. This followed claims by Cameron County prosecutors and Brownsville ISD that Timothy had made verbal threats against his principal.
According to attorney Sara Stapleton-Barrera, Timothy spent three days in solitary confinement at the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Detention Center following his arrest.
Judge Adela Kowalski-Garza of the 484th District Court stated that she dropped the charge of making a false alarm or report against Timothy, citing a lack of probable cause or criminal intent in the case.
Timothy is no longer enrolled as a student in the Brownsville ISD.
