Uvalde Police Department Conducts Four Successful Arrests Over Weekend, Promotes Community Safety

Uvalde Police Department made significant strides in enhancing community safety over the weekend, with the successful arrest of four individuals. This effort reflects the department's unwavering dedication to safeguarding both residents and visitors.

Juan Francisco Mata, aged 40, was apprehended on February 9, 2024, due to two outstanding warrants issued by Uvalde County. The warrants were related to probation violations, one for driving while intoxicated (classified as a misdemeanor) and the other for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (classified as a felony).

Darren Scott Smith, aged 47, was also arrested on February 9, 2024, for criminal trespass, categorized as a Class B misdemeanor.

Billy Jack Vera, aged 40, faced arrest on the same date for public intoxication, classified as a Class C misdemeanor.

On February 11, 2024, Shayanne Saldaña, aged 28, was apprehended for resisting arrest, search, and/or transport, a Class B misdemeanor, as well as public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor.
