Texas Authorities Offer Increased Reward for Capture of Wanted Fugitive From McAllen

Texas authorities have named Raul Herrera Jr. as this month's Featured Fugitive, adding a reward of $8,500 for any information leading to his arrest if the tip is received before the month ends.

Herrera, aged 52, is known to be associated with the Tango Vallucos gang and has previously been linked with the Texas Syndicate gang. His connections extend to the Rio Grande Valley region, including McAllen, as well as ties to Mexico. Wanted since May 2023, warrants for his arrest were issued in Hidalgo County for charges including aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault causing bodily injury of a family member, and violation of bond/protective order.

With a criminal history dating back, Herrera was convicted in 1990 for two counts of aggravated assault, serving ten years of confinement. In 2002, federal court found him guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and felon in possession of a firearm, leading to eleven years of concurrent confinement. Later, in 2014, he was convicted of money laundering and served three years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facility.

Described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, Herrera has distinctive tattoos on his chest and both arms.

To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters MUST provide information to authorities using one of the following three methods:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about then clicking on the link under their picture.
  • Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).

All tips are anonymous — regardless of how they are submitted — and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.
