Former New Braunfels High School Teacher Faces Additional Charges in Sexual Misconduct Case

Bryant Shephard

Comal County prosecutors have added charges against Bryant Andrew Taylor Shephard, a former New Braunfels High School teacher accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a female student. Shephard, 42, now faces two counts of sexual performance by a child, as outlined in the Texas penal code. The charges allege that Shephard employed, authorized, or induced a child under 18 to engage in sexual conduct or a sexual performance.

Shephard was initially arrested in March 2023 on charges of an improper relationship between an educator and a student. After posting a $250,000 bond, he was released from the Comal County Jail. However, new charges led to his rebooking on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

According to jail records, the sexual performance offenses occurred on two separate dates in January 2023. All three charges, classified as second-degree felonies, have been filed in the 433rd District Court of Comal County.

Shephard had served as a teacher and girls' assistant soccer coach at New Braunfels High School since 2017, as confirmed by the New Braunfels Independent School District.
