San Antonio Joins Délice Network, Celebrating Culinary Excellence

San Antonio has been admitted as a member of the prestigious Délice Network, an international organization dedicated to promoting cities that prioritize food and gastronomy for economic development and city attractiveness. With this recognition, San Antonio becomes one of only 26 cities worldwide, alongside Tucson and Chicago, and the only three in the U.S., to be part of this esteemed network.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg expressed his excitement, stating, “Being accepted into this international professional network is a tremendous honor for our city. It recognizes the dedication of our chefs, the vibrancy of our local food scene, and our commitment to fostering a sustainable city and thriving culinary culture."

San Antonio's membership in the Délice Network aligns with its UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy designation, further solidifying its position as a global culinary capital. Colleen Swain, Director of the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office, emphasized that the network offers a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and celebrating the city's culinary identity as an economic driver.

The collaboration between the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office and the San Antonio Chapter of the Texas Restaurant Association played a crucial role in securing the city's acceptance into the Délice Network.

Emily Williams Knight Ed. D., President & CEO of the Texas Restaurant Association, expressed pride in the collaborative efforts, stating, “We’re proud of the collaborative efforts by the leadership of our San Antonio Chapter and the City of San Antonio to further advance the culinary significance of Texas and most specifically build on the culinary reputation of San Antonio.”

Délice Network Executive Director Elisabetta Bernardini welcomed San Antonio, stating, “Thanks to its vibrant, rich and diverse food scene, we know that San Antonio will bring an important contribution to our work. Our members all over the world are looking forward to exchanging ideas, inspiration, and best practices with San Antonio."

San Antonio's role in the Délice Network involves contributing unique concepts and approaches related to food culture, economic development, global recognition, and urban livability. The city's vibrant and diverse food scene is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the network.

Residents are invited to join the city in celebrating this milestone, as San Antonio enhances its profile and strengthens international partnerships, establishing itself as a prominent gastronomic hub on the world stage.
