In a decisive verdict today, a Bexar County jury found Patrick Ortiz, 44, guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 14. The 226th District Court (Impact Court) delivered the verdict and a stern sentence of 40 years in prison.
The charges stem from Ortiz's reprehensible actions, as he initiated the abuse when the victim was around 9 years old, persisting for five years.
The minimum punishment for this offense is 25 years, and Ortiz, who will not be eligible for parole, faces the consequences of his actions. The victim courageously revealed the abuse to her sister, leading to the legal proceedings.
"Our office has no tolerance for those who would hurt our children," said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales, "I'm proud of our trial team's efforts."
