In a commendable achievement for the second consecutive year, the City of Boerne has been named a Best-In-Class Employer in Gallagher’s U.S. Benefits Strategy and Benchmarking Survey for 2023.

Gallagher, a global insurance brokerage, risk management, and consulting services firm, identified the City as an organization excelling in optimizing employee and organizational well-being. The acknowledgment was made at the Jan. 9 City Council meeting, where Human Resources Director Susan Finch and her team were recognized for their outstanding efforts.

Expressing gratitude, Finch thanked the council and city management for their unwavering support and advocacy for employees. City Manager Ben Thatcher highlighted the significance of the recognition, stating, “This places us in the top one percent of organizations in the nation.”

The recognition underscores the City's commitment to being an employer of choice, as it stands among only three organizations in the San Antonio area to receive this honor.

Gallagher assessed the City of Boerne based on various criteria, assigning points for factors such as planning horizons for benefits and compensation strategies, the extent of well-being strategies, turnover rate for full-time equivalents (FTEs), completion of a workforce engagement survey, use of HR technology, healthcare cost differences over the prior year, integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, financial well-being strategy, and communication strategy.

The City's strategic investments in benefits, compensation, and employee communication were recognized for supporting the health, financial security, and career growth of its employees while maintaining a sustainable cost structure.

Gallagher, operating in over 130 countries, conducts this annual survey to identify organizations that excel in employee and organizational well-being strategies. The City of Boerne's consistent recognition reflects its dedication to creating a supportive and thriving work environment for its employees.
