A fatal accident occurred on Saturday night on the Northwest Side of San Antonio when a man, identified as 40-year-old Ramon Saucedo, lost his life while rendering assistance to a driver with a flat tire along Loop 410.
The incident took place at approximately 11:20 p.m. in the 6900 block of the NW Loop 410 access road, close to Alamo Downs Parkway. Saucedo was standing near the back of a black 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, retrieving a car jack from the bed to aid another vehicle with a flat tire. The Ford was parked on the access road, and its hazard lights were activated.
Tragically, a Mitsubishi Galant exiting Loop 410 collided with both Saucedo and the Ford. Emergency services transported Saucedo to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reported that the driver of the Galant was neither intoxicated nor distracted by a cell phone. The driver informed authorities that his attention momentarily shifted from the road when an object fell from the passenger’s seat.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by the SAPD.
