Transported In: Gillespie County Jail Receives Harper Man on DWI 3rd or More Warrant

Justin Brynjulf Welch

On January 4, 2024, the Gillespie County Jail received a transport from Comal County Jail involving 42-year-old Justin Brynjuf Welch, a resident of Harper, Texas. Welch was brought in on a DWI 3rd or More warrant issued by the 216th District Court. The warrant stems from an offense on November 3, 2022, when Fredericksburg Police Officers arrested him for DWI while on probation. His bond has been set at $40,000.

Welch's recent arrest follows a series of legal encounters. On August 1, 2023, he was apprehended by the Comal County Sheriff's Office for failing to appear on a DWI 3rd or More charge from an incident on October 7, 2017. At that time, his bond was set at $100,000, and he remained in Comal County Jail for five months.

Earlier in 2023, on May 18, Welch was arrested by Comal County Deputies for violating probation on the DWI charge. The charge was specifically labeled as a Motion to Revoke - DWI 3rd or More. He spent four days in jail before a court date was set.

Going back to March 12, 2019, Welch previously pleaded guilty to DWI 3rd or More and was sentenced to 10 years of probation along with 300 hours of community service. However, on October 23, 2023, a Motion to Revoke probation was granted, resulting in an eight-year prison sentence at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Welch was credited with 121 days spent in jail, and his license was suspended for two years.
