Tyrill Antonio Benjamin, 33, was apprehended on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred on December 21, 2022. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced the arrest, stating that Benjamin was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant after the suspect's vehicle was located on the Northeast Side.
The car, identified as a green Dodge Charger, allegedly fled the scene after striking a 68-year-old woman at the intersection of O’Connor Road and Misty Ridge Drive. Sheriff Salazar disclosed that the vehicle had noticeable damage to one of the front bumpers.
Benjamin is now facing charges of collision involving serious bodily injury, classified as a third-degree felony. According to Sheriff Salazar, the victim, who was on her way to work at a nearby school, suffered severe injuries including a broken pelvis, a broken arm, and the potential loss of one of her eyes.
During the investigation, Benjamin reportedly told detectives that he believed he had hit a dog. However, witnesses contradicted his claim, having observed the suspect's car parked nearby and the injured victim lying on the street.
