The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) has announced an arrest in the case of Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra on the evening of January 3, 2024. The arrested individuals are identified as 53-year-old Ramon Preciado and his 19-year-old son, Christopher Preciado.
Christopher Preciado has been charged with Capital Murder, while his father, Ramon Preciado, faces charges of Abuse of a Corpse for his involvement in moving the bodies after they were murdered. The case is linked to a narcotics-related deal that went bad. It is emphasized that there is no connection between the suspects and the apartment complex where the bodies were discovered; the location served as a dumping site for the vehicle containing the deceased victims.
The victims, 18-year-old Savanah Soto and 22-year-old Matthew Guerra, were found dead in a vehicle on December 26, 2023, at the 5900 block of Danny Kaye. The SAPD had released video footage last week from a nearby location, capturing two persons of interest. The video showed one person approaching the driver's side door of Guerra's Kia Optima, while the second person emerged from the driver's seat.
SAPD Chief William McManus clarified that the person seen exiting the Kia Optima was not Matthew Guerra. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds, and an unborn child, tragically, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office provided the cause of death for Matthew Guerra as a "contact gunshot wound to the head," while Savanah Soto was positively identified with a cause of death being a gunshot wound to the head.
Christopher Preciado, who is now facing charges of Capital Murder, has no prior arrests.
