San Antonio District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte was arrested on Friday for allegedly Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). The arrest took place around 11 p.m. near the 300 block of Northeast Loop 410 on the Northside, according to a blood draw warrant obtained from the San Antonio Police Department.
Police reported that Whyte was pulled over for a traffic stop, during which the officer observed signs of intoxication. The warrant revealed that Whyte was allegedly driving at 80 mph in a 65 mph zone and changing lanes without using a signal.
Upon approaching Whyte's vehicle, the officer noted a strong smell of alcohol. Despite being asked to provide a sample of his breath and blood at the scene, Whyte refused, leading to the issuance of a blood draw warrant.
The Marc Whyte Campaign addressed the incident on Facebook, stating, "I did not feel intoxicated when I drove home last night. I never get behind the wheel when I feel as if I’ve had too much to drink. But that isn’t the point. Nobody should drive even if they have had just one drink. I take full ownership over my actions, and I apologize to the residents of District 10, my family, friends, Council colleagues, and anyone else who I have let down."
