In the early hours of the morning at 1:30 am, deputies were called to the 200 block of Gideon Ave in rural Donna, Texas, responding to a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, they discovered a 45-year-old hispanic woman covered in a blanket, lying in a pool of blood. The victim was located in an apartment close to her residence where the common-law husband was staying due to domestic issues.
Authorities suspect the victim's common-law husband is a person of interest in the case and that domestic violence is the motive for the homicde. It is believed that he may have fled to Mexico, as the victim's car was found at the Hidalgo Port of Entry.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office has been in contact with law partners in Mexico to locate the husband, according to Sheriff Guerra.
