On Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 8:49 PM, Gillespie County Sheriff deputies responded to an assault at Methodist Hill Country (1020 South SH 16). The incident involved a 35-year-old male from Houston, TX, who had been brought in under an emergency detention order by the day shift.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the individual assaulted a member of the nursing staff because they refused to allow him to use his vape inside the hospital. The assault occurred as hospital staff was in the process of discharging hime from their care. In response to the situation, the man was placed under arrest without incident and charged with Assault (Simple).
