In the late hours of Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:54 PM, a routine traffic stop by a Gillespie County Sheriff deputy unfolded in the 1500 block of South US Highway 87. The deputy pulled over a vehicle due to an expired registration.
Upon completion of the initial investigation, the deputy proceeded to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle after spotting drug paraphernalia in plain view. During the search, it was discovered that the driver had discarded a baggy before coming to a stop. The baggy, upon retrieval, was found to contain approximately 2.2 grams of cocaine.
The driver, 52-year-old Jerrold Patrick Bryant of Marble Falls, TX, was subsequently taken into custody. The charges include Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, with the quantity falling between 1 and 4 grams, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
