San Antonio's Centro de Artes Gallery Announces Exciting Exhibition Lineup Through 2028 After Record-Breaking Year

In the wake of a record-breaking year for visitation, the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture has unveiled the Centro de Artes Gallery’s exhibition lineup stretching through 2028.

"Pre-pandemic, the gallery averaged about 10,000 visitors annually. This year, Centro de Artes welcomed approximately 24,000 visitors and showcased 320 artworks by 60 artists," revealed Krystal Jones, Executive Director of the Department of Arts & Culture. "The gallery has gained national acclaim for its role in portraying the Latino experience in the U.S. through art. As we step into 2024, we anticipate Centro de Artes continuing to be a recognized space within the art industry and beyond."

The upcoming exhibitions, scheduled from February 8 to June 30, 2024, include "Millennial Lotería: The LatinXperience" by guest artists Michael Alfaro & Gerardo Guillen on the first floor and "Permanencia Voluntaria" by guest artist Froy “Efedefroy” Padilla on the second floor. Following in August is the exhibition "Rolando Briseño: A Retrospective," curated by Ruben Cordova, Ph.D.

"I am amazed at the number of applications we received from artists and curators across the country to showcase their exhibitions," remarked Yadhira Lozano, District 3 Arts Commissioner, Centro De Artes Committee Chair, and Luminaria Executive Director. "The content for this next season is impactful and thought-provoking. The success of Centro de Artes reflects the desire for audiences to view Latinx art and meet new artists doing great work in our city and beyond."
