On December 13, 2023, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, Ph.D. (TX-28), held an informational webinar highlighting the various resources and loans available to small businesses, courtesy of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Representatives from the SBA participated in the webinar, providing insights into a broad spectrum of resources aimed at supporting small businesses. Key topics covered included:

1. Free Business Counseling: Guidance and support for small business owners.
2. SBA Guaranteed Business Loans: Information on loan options with SBA backing.
3. Home & Business Disaster Loans: Assistance for businesses affected by disasters.
4. Federal Government Contracting: Opportunities for small businesses in federal contracting.

Dr. Cuellar, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, emphasized the crucial role played by small businesses in fueling economic growth within South Texas communities. In a statement, he said, “I’ve seen firsthand how South Texas small businesses serve as economic engines for their communities. I hosted a webinar today to showcase the many federal resources available to small businesses for continued entrepreneurial success.”

He further pledged to continue advocating for the interests of South Texas small business owners in Congress, ensuring the community's overall prosperity. Dr. Cuellar expressed gratitude to the U.S. Small Business Administration for collaborating with him to disseminate information about the federal resources available to small businesses.
