As the holiday season kicks into high gear, the New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are urging drivers to prioritize safety and abstain from driving while intoxicated.
From December 13, 2023, to January 1, 2024, NBPD will deploy additional patrols on city streets and IH-35 as part of the Impaired Driving Mobilization enforcement for TxDOT’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). This initiative, funded through grants, aims to bolster officer presence on local roadways to increase arrests of individuals driving under the influence of alcohol.
The program aligns with the statewide "Drink. Drive. Go To Jail." campaign, seeking to save lives by curbing the number of DWI-related incidents, including crashes, injuries, and fatalities. The collaborative effort between NBPD and TxDOT underscores their commitment to enhancing public safety during the holiday season.
Motorists are strongly advised to exercise caution, act responsibly, and refrain from impaired driving to ensure a safer and more enjoyable holiday for all.
