On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, law enforcement successfully apprehended a fugitive, Joshua Hatley, 33, of Spring, TX, following a pursuit that involved the Kerrville Police Department (KPD), Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputies, and other agencies.
The incident began at approximately 8:26 a.m. when KPD initiated a pursuit of a vehicle heading northbound on Ranch Road 783, which later turned onto McCullough Road. After losing sight of the vehicle, authorities located it again on Zenner-Ahrens Road, initiating a westbound pursuit on White Oak Road.
GCSO deputies and the Gillespie County Constable of Pct. 2 joined the effort, but the vehicle was lost once more. A vigilant caller reported observing the vehicle being parked, and a male subject fleeing near a residence on Windy Ridge.
A thorough search was conducted throughout the morning, employing a Kerrville PD tracking dog, drones, and a DPS helicopter. Despite extensive efforts, the male subject remained elusive.
Later in the day, a Texas Ranger received information that the subject was captured on a ring camera at a residence on Antler Spur. Law enforcement swiftly converged on the location, discovering a locked shop door that the homeowner claimed was never secured.
With the assistance of K9 Furex, law enforcement entered the premises and apprehended Joshua Hatley without incident. Hatley, facing multiple out-of-county warrants, was taken into custody by Kerr County Sheriff’s Office deputies and transported to the Kerr County Jail.
The successful operation was a collaborative effort involving multiple agencies from Kerr and Gillespie counties, and their dedication and cooperation in resolving the incident are commended.
