The Bandera Academic Decathlon showcased its prowess as it welcomed 12 teams for the Round 1 competition over the weekend. The participating teams were strategically divided into two divisions: 6A (Large) and (5A-4A) Medium.
In the Medium division, Bandera displayed outstanding performance, securing the second position overall, with Health Careers claiming the top spot. Despite the team's second-place finish, Bandera's team Captain, William "Ozzie" Knowles, emerged as the standout performer among the 140 contestants, achieving the highest score across all divisions (6A, 5A, 4A) with an impressive 10-event score of 7856.
The competition recognized excellence in each subject, awarding medals to the top three competitors and ribbons to those in 4th and 5th place. Bandera received notable recognition, with individual achievements as follows:
