New Braunfels Man Indicted on Eight Counts for Alleged Firearm Parts Smuggling Scheme to Mexico

A federal grand jury in San Antonio has issued a superseding indictment charging Chandler Britain Bradford, a 34-year-old resident of New Braunfels, with eight counts related to the smuggling of firearm parts into Mexico and a conspiracy to commit money laundering.

According to court documents, Bradford is accused of participating in a multimillion-dollar scheme to illegally supply thousands of semi-automatic rifles to a Mexican citizen residing in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The indictment alleges that Bradford provided enough firearm parts to equip the recipient with approximately 4,800 semi-automatic rifles, despite lacking the necessary license to export firearm parts from the United States to Mexico. It further claims that Bradford supplied his co-conspirator with parts, tools, and guidance, facilitating a full firearm manufacturing enterprise in northern Mexico, and received over $3.5 million in return.

Bradford faces charges including conspiracy to smuggle goods from the United States, conspiracy to traffic firearms, conspiracy to transfer firearms for use in a felony, aiding and abetting the smuggling of goods from the United States, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. The sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge, who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas. The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with assistance from the Department of Commerce Office of Export Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations.
