In a Tuesday afternoon incident near Quitman, a Northside High School student, aged 16, sustained gunshot wounds during a confrontation with two other boys off campus. The shooting occurred around 1 p.m. in the 2300 block of Fulton Street.

Two patrolling officers in the vicinity heard gunshots while driving southbound on Fulton Street. Upon reaching the scene, they discovered the injured student and two suspects. The victim was found on the sidewalk, and one suspect fled northbound while the other ran southbound.

The responding officers quickly split their efforts, with one attending to the wounded student and applying a tourniquet. The 16-year-old victim was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical attention. Meanwhile, the other officer pursued one of the suspects.

A firearm was reportedly discovered at the scene, prompting an ongoing investigation. The incident unfolded mere feet away from Northside High School.
