The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended Larry James Korus, 40, in connection with a tragic two-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of two individuals in the southwest part of the county.
Korus faces charges of two counts of manslaughter, as stated by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Monday on Highway 16 South near Smith Road. (Near the Somerset ISD Transportation building in Von Ormy, TX 78073)
Eyewitnesses reported a vehicle speeding, subsequently colliding with another. According to Sheriff Salazar, Korus was traveling at a top speed of 124 mph, slowing slightly to about 116 mph at the time of the crash. Notably, Korus was driving a high-performance Lexus that sustained comparatively less damage than the victims’ vehicle.

Sheriff Salazar revealed that Korus attributed his excessive speed to a desire not to be late for work. The impact of the collision sent the victims’ vehicle flying a significant distance, causing it to spin out and flip over. Tragically, the driver and passenger, identified as Linda Perry, 64, and Julie Perry, 40, a mother-daughter duo, were pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigator familiar with Korus noted that his wife had met a similar fate in a crash on the same stretch of road. She was in a Camaro traveling at a high speed during that incident.
