On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at approximately 11:03 p.m., a Gillespie County Sheriff deputy conducted a routine traffic stop after observing a vehicle failing to maintain a single lane of travel and for a defective equipment violation.
Upon interacting with the male driver, it was discovered that the 52-year-old resident of Kingsland, TX, had two outstanding felony warrants from Ector County. The warrants were related to charges of Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled Person with the intent of bodily harm and Tampering or Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair.
During the inventory of the vehicle incident to the arrest, the driver voluntarily disclosed the presence of illegal narcotics inside. A subsequent search by the deputy revealed approximately 30 grams of a substance identified as methamphetamine in clear plastic packaging. Additionally, a beverage container that had been modified into a smoking bong was discovered. The container, containing approximately 172 grams of liquid, tested positive for methamphetamine.
Consequently, the driver now faces charges of Possession of a Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B, specifically between 200 and 400 grams.
