San Marcos Police Officers concluded an investigation with an arrest following a distressing incident reported by a family in the Victory Gardens neighborhood. On Monday night, the family alerted the authorities that their dog had been shot and killed by a neighbor.
The police promptly responded to the call and initiated an inquiry. Surveillance footage obtained by officers revealed the alleged perpetrator to be 68-year-old Andrew Kennedy. The video captured Kennedy walking with a weapon and shooting the dog. Additional evidence linking Kennedy to the crime was collected during the investigation.
A necropsy conducted on the deceased dog disclosed that it had been shot with a pellet gun. Subsequently, on the basis of the gathered evidence, Kennedy was arrested. He now faces a charge of Cruelty to Nonlivestock Animals, categorized as a third-degree felony.
