Two Teen Fugitives Arrested in Bexar County After Bragging Online about Drive-By Shooting

Two teenage fugitives have been apprehended by Bexar County Sheriff Deputies after they took to social media to boast about their criminal activities and taunt authorities. The arrests came after a drive-by shooting on October 4, 2022, in the 4000 block of Bald Mountain Dr., where the two suspects were initially charged but had managed to evade custody.

Sheriff Javier Salazar held a press conference on the evening of October 31, announcing the capture of a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old, identified as Isaac Diego Gonzales. The teenagers had removed their ankle monitors shortly after making bail for charges related to the drive-by shooting incident.

The initial incident involved the firing of over 100 rounds into a residence on the city's Westside, believed to be in retaliation to a rival gang. Unfortunately, the assailants had targeted the wrong house, resulting in the tragic death of 25-year-old Novita Brazil, described as an innocent bystander.

Sheriff Salazar shared, "She was a completely innocent bystander, just a young lady working her way through college, doing her homework at the wee hours of the night, burning the midnight oil. She was shot and killed instantly by one of the 100 rounds that came through her house."

Novita Brazil was fatally shot in the face while she was working on her computer in her bedroom. Another woman, who was an Airbnb tenant and had just arrived at the home the night before, suffered a gunshot wound to her leg.

Following the shooting, deputies arrived at the scene and observed a white, four-door vehicle speeding away from the area. Authorities managed to stop the vehicle a short distance later, near Highway 151 and Acme Road.

Two teenagers, aged 14 and 15 at the time, were taken into custody that morning and have subsequently been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In the days that followed, three more teenagers were charged with deadly conduct with a firearm.
