Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Center Point Man for Drug Possession and Outstanding Warrant

In a routine traffic stop on Friday morning, deputies arrested a 67-year-old man from Center Point, TX, after discovering illegal drugs and an outstanding warrant.

Around 9:58 a.m., deputies responded to a call about a reckless driver on South US Highway 87 heading northbound. A deputy successfully located the vehicle and pulled it over near the intersection of South Lincoln and East Ufer Streets. During the stop, the deputy noticed a homemade meth bong on the front passenger seat.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the driver had an outstanding warrant from Kerr County. A probable cause search of the vehicle led deputies to discover approximately 9 grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of cocaine inside the center console.

The 67-year-old male driver was arrested on the existing warrant for Driving While License Invalid (DWLI) with previous convictions. Additionally, he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B (methamphetamine) weighing between 4 grams and 200 grams, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B (cocaine) within a Drug-Free Zone.
