Texas Department of Transportation to Host Open House on SH 16 Construction in Bandera

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced that they will be hosting an open house on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 6 pm to 7 pm, to discuss upcoming construction plans for State Highway 16 (SH 16) in the city of Bandera. The construction project is slated to take place between Robindale East Road and Old San Antonio Road.

The open house event is scheduled to be held at Silver Sage, which is located at 803 Buck Creek Drive in Bandera, Texas. TxDOT officials will be present to provide information and answer questions from the public.

All residents and interested parties are encouraged to attend the open house to learn more about the construction plans and to voice any concerns or inquiries they may have regarding the project.

Description of Project

TxDOT proposes to expand this section of SH 16 from one lane each way to two 12-ft wide lanes each way with five-ft wide shoulders and sidewalks on each side. The opposing lanes would typically be divided by a center turn lane. A raised median would be located on SH 16 between the eastern unsignalized intersection of Old San Antonio Road and Enchanted River Drive. The bridge over Bandera Creek would be replaced with a wider and higher structure to reduce the frequency of overtopping.
