The Boerne Independent School District (BISD) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday as they hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming Aquatics Learning Center. The event officially initiated the construction phase of the project.
The ceremony witnessed prominent figures in attendance, including BISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price, Board President Carlin Friar, and Caleb Beets, Chief Operations Officer at Tegrity Contractors, the chosen construction firm for the project.
The site selected for the Aquatics Learning Center lies nestled between Cibolo Creek Elementary and Champion High School, strategically placed to serve the educational needs of the community.
Adding to the ceremonial ambiance, the Boerne/Champion Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Students stood as the color guard, while the voices of the Champion Choir filled the air as they sang the national anthem to inaugurate the event.
Dr. Price and the Board of Trustees played a symbolic role in the proceedings, taking up shovels to turn over the first pieces of dirt, formally commencing the construction of the facility.
The decision to appoint Tegrity Constructors as the contractor for the Aquatics Learning Center was ratified by the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees in August 2023.
This ambitious project received the green light from voters in the Boerne ISD Bond Election held in May 2022. As per the current timeline, the Aquatics Learning Center is anticipated to be ready for use by the community in August 2024.
