Authorities confirmed that no injuries were sustained during the alarming episode.

The incident occurred as the school bus, carrying students from Jefferson and Koennecke Elementary Schools, along with a student from Ball Elementary School, approached the Jefferson Elementary School parking lot. According to initial reports, a young student aboard the bus unintentionally discharged the loaded handgun. The immediate response of the bus driver, who managed to retrieve the firearm from the student, prevented any escalation of the situation.

Local law enforcement arrived promptly on the scene to take charge of the investigation. While early findings indicate that the student did not threaten anyone with the weapon, the gravity of the situation cannot be understated. The safety and well-being of all students and staff members remain of paramount importance within the Seguin Independent School District (SISD). Officials are actively reaching out to the parents and guardians of all students who were present on the bus at the time of the incident to communicate the facts of the situation and to assure them that their children are out of harm's way.

In light of the incident, the SISD has deployed professional school counselors to provide support and assistance to students and families who may require it. The school district has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment for all students.
