Bexar County Deputies Seize More Than 300 Grams of Meth During San Antonio Traffic Stop, Arrest Drug Dealer

Raul Takahashi

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 37-year-old man was arrested after investigators seized more than 300 grams of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop on San Antonio's North Side, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Raul Takahashi, 37, was taken into custody Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, near Loop 410 and Interstate 35, close to the Windcrest area.

The arrest followed an investigation involving the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Organized Crime Unit and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

During the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, authorities recovered more than 300 grams of crystal methamphetamine, approximately 10.6 ounces.

Takahashi was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony under Texas law.

The amount of methamphetamine seized represents a substantial quantity of the illegal drug. For perspective, using an illustrative amount of 0.25 grams per dose, 300 grams could be divided into approximately 1,200 doses. Actual amounts consumed vary considerably, and there is no standardized safe dose of methamphetamine.

The drugs could also carry a significant street value. Based on estimated prices ranging from $20 to $100 per gram, 300 grams could have a retail value between $6,000 and $30,000, depending on purity, location and how the drugs are sold. Authorities did not provide an official estimated value for the seizure.

Under Texas law, manufacturing or delivering between 200 and 400 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, including methamphetamine, is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 upon conviction.

Federal drug trafficking laws also impose substantial penalties for certain quantities of methamphetamine. However, Takahashi faces a state charge, and federal sentencing provisions do not automatically apply to his case.

The Sheriff's Office credited its Organized Crime Unit and DPS for their work in intercepting the drugs.

Court records show that Takahashi has multiple arrests on drug charges in Wilson County.
