KERRVILLE, Texas - An 18-year-old woman was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital after she was struck by gunfire during a drive-by shooting outside a Kerrville residence Friday night, police said.
Kerrville Police officers responded to a home in the 300 block of West Schreiner Street at approximately 9:42 p.m. on Aug. 14 following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they learned that several rounds had been fired toward the residence and people who were outside.
An 18-year-old Kerrville woman who was sitting inside a parked vehicle in front of the home was struck by gunfire.
Due to her injuries, the woman was transported by air ambulance to a hospital in San Antonio. Police said she was listed in stable condition.
According to the initial investigation, a vehicle drove past the West Schreiner Street residence and someone inside opened fire, shooting several rounds toward the house and people gathered in the yard.
Police said at least one bullet struck and entered the occupied residence.
Despite multiple rounds being fired, no one else was reported injured.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect, the vehicle involved or information about a possible motive for the shooting. Police also have not said whether investigators believe the wounded woman or anyone at the residence was specifically targeted.
Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and additional information about the shooting. Police said there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to the general public.
