SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting another man following an argument outside a bar in November 2024, the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office announced.
Visiting Judge Jefferson Moore sentenced 33-year-old Franco Xavier Summers on July 27, 2026, in the 226th District Court for the murder of Christopher Fuentes.
According to prosecutors, the shooting occurred during the early morning hours of November 2024 after Summers, his girlfriend Virginia Fuentes and her father, Christopher Fuentes, became involved in an argument outside a bar near Blanco Road and Loop 1604.
During the confrontation, Summers threatened Christopher and Virginia Fuentes with a firearm while they were inside a vehicle with him.
Christopher and Virginia exited the vehicle in an attempt to get away from Summers. Instead of leaving the area, Summers drove toward them in the parking lot of a nearby Taco Palenque.
Surveillance video showed Christopher Fuentes approaching the driver's side window, where he briefly struggled with Summers. Prosecutors said Christopher then stepped away and attempted to flee, but Summers fired four rounds, striking him in the back.
Summers fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Law enforcement officers later located Summers, but he initially evaded arrest. Authorities apprehended him the following day without further incident.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Lauren Scott and Kathleen O'Reilly of the Family Violence Division prosecuted the case with assistance from Victim Advocate Sarah Young and Investigator Ralph Garcia.
"This case is a tragic reminder of how quickly violence can escalate and forever change the lives of families," Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales said in a statement. "Christopher Fuentes lost his life while trying to protect himself and his loved ones. We are grateful for the dedicated work of our prosecutors and law enforcement partners in securing justice and holding the defendant accountable for his actions."
Because Summers has been convicted and sentenced, the case has been adjudicated.
