SAN ANTONIO, Texas - One person was injured and multiple homes and vehicles were struck by gunfire Tuesday night after deputies say occupants of two or possibly three vehicles exchanged gunfire while driving through a Far West Side neighborhood.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:16 p.m. on July 21 to the 12600 block of Emmett Grove after receiving reports of multiple gunshots.

The caller told dispatchers they heard numerous rounds being fired and saw several vehicles speeding away from the area.

When deputies arrived, they found multiple residences and vehicles damaged by gunfire. Investigators recovered numerous spent shell casings but found no victims at the scene.

About seven minutes later, at approximately 9:23 p.m., dispatchers were notified that a man with a gunshot wound to his lower body had arrived at a nearby urgent care facility. He was referred to a local hospital for additional treatment.

Authorities said the victim's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation indicates that occupants of two, and possibly three, vehicles exchanged gunfire while driving through the neighborhood.

Deputies detained two individuals believed to be involved in the shooting. Investigators said they are continuing to determine the extent of each person's involvement and whether additional suspects were involved.

The investigation remains ongoing.
