New Braunfels Police Say Damage to Comal County Democratic Party Office Was Accidental, Not Politically Motivated

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The New Braunfels Police Department says its investigation has determined that damage to the Comal County Democratic Party office was caused by an accidental crash and was not politically motivated.

Officers responded at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3, to a report of criminal mischief at the Comal County Democratic Party office, located at 1592 W. San Antonio Street.

When officers arrived, they found significant damage to the storefront, including shattered glass inside the office.

Investigators also observed tire tracks leading from the parking lot, over the sidewalk, and directly into the damaged building, indicating a vehicle had struck the storefront.

According to detectives, the investigation determined that a juvenile female driver accidentally crashed into the building after losing control of the vehicle due to her limited driving experience.

Police said the evidence showed the incident was accidental and that there was no indication the office was intentionally targeted because of its political affiliation.

The investigation remains open while detectives complete the remaining investigative steps and consult with the appropriate juvenile authorities regarding any potential charges.
