DEL RIO, Texas — Three women have been charged with murder after a stabbing victim died several hours after being transported to a hospital, according to the Del Rio Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 2:10 p.m. on June 25 to Val Verde Regional Medical Center after receiving a report of a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Investigators determined the assault had occurred in the 800 block of East 10th Street.
The 32-year-old victim was initially treated at the local hospital before being airlifted to a medical facility in San Antonio because of the severity of her injuries.
During the investigation, detectives identified three suspects: 21-year-old Kitty Mia Diaz, 19-year-old Amaya Cookie Diaz, and 21-year-old Kyandra Renee Faz.
Investigators gathered surveillance video, processed evidence, and interviewed numerous witnesses.
At approximately 4 p.m., officers located and arrested Kitty Mia Diaz and Amaya Cookie Diaz without incident. A short time later, officers also arrested Kyandra Renee Faz in connection with the investigation.
All three suspects were transported to the Del Rio Police Department for booking.
At approximately 9 p.m., investigators were notified that the victim had died from her injuries.
Following her death, Kitty Mia Diaz, Amaya Cookie Diaz, and Kyandra Renee Faz were each charged with Murder.
The three women were transported to the GEO Correctional Facility, where they remain in custody pending magistration.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police said additional charges could be filed as detectives continue gathering evidence and determining the full circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.
