SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A Bexar County jury has sentenced a man to 45 years in prison after convicting him of stabbing three people during a confrontation outside a San Antonio bar.
David Rivera was found guilty earlier this week on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Following the verdicts, a jury in the 144th District Court sentenced Rivera to 45 years in prison for each count. The sentences will run concurrently.
The charges stem from a May 2025 incident outside a local bar that left three victims seriously injured.
According to prosecutors, the violence began after a verbal altercation escalated outside the establishment. During the confrontation, Rivera allegedly produced a knife and stabbed three individuals.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Virgil Yanta, Ana Colon Soto and Rosa Garcia of the Criminal Trial Division prosecuted the case. They were assisted by Victim Advocate Jessica Muñoz and Investigator Martin Gaskin.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to both our prosecutors and the jury for their vital roles in maintaining public safety and upholding the law,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said. “Their efforts were instrumental in securing a sentence that not only reflects accountability but also reinforces the message that violent behavior in Bexar County will have serious consequences.”
Rivera will serve 45 years in prison under the sentence imposed by the jury.
