Body Found in Guadalupe River During Search for Missing New Braunfels Woman

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Authorities discovered the body of a deceased woman Tuesday evening while conducting a planned search related to a missing person investigation in New Braunfels.

According to the New Braunfels Police Department, the body was located at approximately 6 p.m. on June 2 during a coordinated search operation involving the New Braunfels Police Department, New Braunfels Fire Department, Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR), and the New Braunfels Community Emergency Response Team (NBCERT).

The search was part of ongoing efforts to locate 59-year-old Juliet Elizabeth Watson, who was reported missing on May 26.

Officials said the area along the Guadalupe River had been the focus of multiple search efforts over the past week.

During Tuesday's operation, search crews discovered the body of an adult female along the banks of the Guadalupe River near the 700 block of Rusk Lane.

Authorities have not yet positively identified the woman.

The body has been transported to a medical examiner's office for an autopsy and formal identification.

Investigators have not released any information regarding the cause or manner of death.

The New Braunfels Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate the case.

Officials have not confirmed whether the body is that of Watson.
