Eduvin Jose Garcia III

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A San Antonio man was arrested after investigators say he used a customer’s debit card to make unauthorized purchases shortly after the customer completed a transaction at a local business.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded May 27 to a report of a stolen debit card.

The victim told deputies that after making a purchase earlier in the day, several unauthorized transactions later appeared on their bank account.

Investigators obtained surveillance footage from a business in the 11900 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway on San Antonio’s Far West Side and determined that an employee had allegedly used the customer’s debit card to make multiple unauthorized purchases at a nearby smoke shop.

Deputies identified the suspect as 21-year-old Eduvin Garcia.

Authorities said Garcia was located and questioned during the investigation and later admitted to the offense.

During his arrest, Garcia allegedly resisted deputies, resulting in a brief struggle before he was taken into custody.

Garcia was charged with:

  • Debit Card Abuse
  • Resisting Arrest

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents to verify that their debit and credit cards are returned after transactions, regularly monitor bank accounts for suspicious activity, and immediately report unauthorized charges.
