SAN ANTONIO — Southwest Airlines and San Antonio International Airport have reached a settlement agreement ending a legal dispute tied to the airport’s Airline Use and Lease Agreement and its major terminal development project.

Under the agreement announced May 14, Southwest signed a new Airline Use and Lease Agreement that guarantees the airline no fewer than six gates at the airport.

As part of the arrangement:

• Three Southwest gates will be located in the future Terminal C
• Three gates will remain in the renovated Terminal B

Officials said the agreement reinforces Southwest’s role as San Antonio’s largest airline carrier while maintaining access to its network of destinations.

Litigation to Be Dropped

The settlement also resolves disagreements regarding airport rates and charges dating back to October 2024.

As part of the agreement, Southwest will dismiss pending litigation filed against the airport in:

• Federal court
• Proceedings before the Federal Aviation Administration

The resolution allows construction and long-term airport expansion plans to continue without further legal conflict.

Both Southwest and airport officials said they plan to continue working together to support future growth at SAT and improve the travel experience for passengers in San Antonio.
