Hays County Detectives Investigating Linked Storage Unit Burglaries in Dripping Springs, Wimberley

HAYS COUNTY, Texas — Detectives with the Hays County Sheriff's Office are investigating two storage unit burglaries believed to involve the same suspects after tools, firearms, and other items were stolen from facilities in Dripping Springs and Wimberley.

According to investigators, both burglaries involved forced entry into storage units.

The first burglary occurred around 4 a.m. on May 10, 2026, at Extra Space Storage off Highway 290 in Dripping Springs.

The second burglary happened between 10 p.m. and midnight on May 18, 2026, at RightSpace Storage in Wimberley.

Authorities said multiple items were stolen in both incidents, including tools and firearms.

Investigators described the suspects as:

  • Suspect 1: White male wearing black-and-white Nike shoes during both burglaries
  • Suspect 2: White male with tattoos on his left hand, left wrist, and inner left forearm, and a noticeable hunched posture

Detective Keith Kopec is leading the investigation.
