Violent Fugitive Wanted in Colorado Attempted Murder Case Captured After Multi-County Texas Manhunt

Jesse Lang

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — A fugitive wanted on multiple violent felony charges in Colorado and Texas was arrested Thursday following a multi-county manhunt led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Central Texas Violent Crimes Task Force.

According to the FBI’s San Antonio division, investigators working alongside several law enforcement agencies tracked down and arrested Jesse Joshua Lang on May 14, 2026, as part of “Operation No Escape,” a nationwide effort targeting violent fugitives.

Authorities said Lang was wanted by the Denver Police Department on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree assault involving strangulation causing serious bodily injury, sexual assault without consent, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, and second-degree assault.

Lang was also wanted by the Edinburg Police Department on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as by Travis County authorities on an evading arrest charge involving a prior conviction.

The FBI said Lang attempted to flee, prompting agencies across multiple counties to mobilize immediately.

The pursuit ended with a coordinated felony traffic stop on Interstate 35 near New Braunfels, where Lang was taken into custody.

The FBI credited several agencies for assisting in the operation, including the Austin Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Travis County Sheriff's Office, and Hays County Sheriff's Office.

Federal officials said the operation reflects continued coordination between agencies across state lines to apprehend violent offenders.
