Medina County Fire/EMS Names Vaughan Miller as Division Chief of EMS

MEDINA COUNTY, Texas — Medina County Fire/EMS has announced the appointment of Vaughan Miller as its new Division Chief of EMS, bringing nearly three decades of experience in emergency medicine, critical care, and leadership to the role.

Miller’s background spans a wide range of positions, including flight nurse and paramedic, ICU/CCU registered nurse and preceptor, operations lieutenant, field supervisor, logistics manager, and tactical medic. Officials said his experience across both field operations and hospital settings positions him to lead a growing EMS system.

He holds both an Associate and Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse, Texas Licensed Paramedic, and certified Texas Peace Officer.

Miller also maintains several advanced certifications, including Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN), and Board-Certified Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (CVRN-BC), along with multiple emergency and trauma care credentials.

According to the department, Miller has contributed to major initiatives such as managing large-scale disaster logistics and helping implement the nation’s first prehospital whole blood administration program.

In his new role, Miller will oversee EMS clinical operations, including protocol development, training, and quality improvement efforts. Officials said his leadership will help guide the department’s continued growth with a focus on evidence-based care, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes.

Medina County Fire/EMS welcomed Miller to the department, noting his experience and leadership will play a key role in shaping the future of EMS services in the community.
